Second Demo is out... Somewhat
Greetings to all!
The main and also the only developer of Nanite Contamination is writing to you once again.
About a week ago, as a result of several weeks of hard work, the second demo version of the game was released, which in my vision should have much better reflected the essence of the project being prepared for release. And it’s worth saying that I’m still very pleased with my work!
Writing features like kicking props and make them cause damage on impact was really fun
In six months of variable work on the game, I managed to slightly improve the platforming, movements and make more high-quality animations for the game character again, thanks to my freelance animator for the help provided.
Well, of course, the most important thing in the current demo is that the game finally has a full-fledged first level and some kind of narrative, so far there is not much of it in the game, but gradually the main trio of characters are being introduced into the game, with whom the player will have to go through the entire game the path from the beginning to the very end.*
Naturally, the current iteration, due to time and financial restrictions, did not include a number of features that I would like to add there. Like, for example, enemies that are not just gray goo, as well as consumable items and installed upgrades, which, according to my idea, should greatly influence how the player completes the level. In the demo, a temporary solution was a separate button for using stimulants, which in the future I plan to convert into a full-fledged inventory, additionally adding more interactive items.
I also plan to improve the prop system by adding more destructibility to them so that they do not clog the passages in the level and do not block passages.
Of course the will also expand the character’s moveset, adding combo attacks and other new moves.
My current idea is to gradually implement all this directly in the demo, until I get a vertical slice of gameplay that suits both me and the players. This is why I suggest everyone who wants to try the game now, not only to feel the difference but also to give their feedback.
* - unfortunately, in the current build, for unknown reasons, the dialog box is bugged, which prevents the display of portraits in it. At the moment the problem is being resolved.
